What is an organizational policy?
Organizational policies often reinforce and clarify the standard operating procedure in a workplace. An organizational policy will help the management to manage employers more effectively by defining acceptable and unacceptable behaviour in the workplace. An organizational policy will help to build a broad guideline on action to be taken to achieve that purpose.
What are the benefits of having an organizational policy?
- Develop employer’s knowledge skills about what is expected of them
- Provide rules and guidelines for decision-making in routine situations
- Able to develop a consistent and clear response on dealing with situations
- Help the employers to be treated fairly and equally
- Help to overcome complaints and misunderstandings
- Provide a clear framework for the delegation of decision-making
How to develop and introduce organizational policies to an employee?
Step 1: Management Support
Management support to an organizational policy is very important and can be
achieved by actively seeking employees feedbacks.
Step 2: Consult with staff
Staff involvement is very important in developing and implementing this
organizational policy and helps to determine how mighty this works on the
organization.
Step 3: Define the terms of the policy
The policy should explain what are acceptable and unacceptable behaviours in the
workplace.
Step 5: Training and regular referral
The organizational policy may be explained to staff through information and training
sessions during staff meetings
Step 6: Implementation
This organizational policy must be implemented consistently according to the
procedures.
Step 7: Evaluate and review
Every 6 months or 12 months the organization policy must be reviewed and evaluated
to ensure that it is in line with any changes.
